Rob James Collier has apparently said he is quitting Coronation Street after winning the Sexiest Male British Soap Award two years in a row.
The soap hunk - who plays The Street's Liam Connor - reluctantly accepted the award, which is voted for by the public, at this year's ceremony, sarcastically saying: "Thanks for this award which relly reflects acting ability."
Rob told New! magazine: "In a way this is why I am glad to be leaving the show. You can work your nuts off acting-wise, but as soon as you appear on screen in a towel, bingo, you're the sexiest male."
The 31-year-old is determined to become a "serious actor" and has vowed to turn down any job until what he considers to be the right role comes along.
He said: "I won't be doing panto. I want to be taken seriously as an actor and that means landing the right part."

Opinions anyone?
I think he sounds a tad ungrateful, it may not be award for his acting but it is voted for by the viewers and shows popularity and to turn round and say something like that seems like he is slapping the fans who voted for him in the face. By all means move on and have higher aspirations but in my opinion he should be grateful that he is popular and liked by Corrie fans. Also, he shouldn't diss panto! Never say never! Money is money when it comes down to survival!

It's annoyed me too He should be grateful he won anything! There were plenty of soap stars there who didnt get anything but they deserved it. He does seem very ungrateful there, I dont know why people still vote for him
i don't watch corrie but this guy if he wants to be taken seriously shouldn't dis his fans cause in the end its generally them who get you places and to me comments like that, is dissing fans.
