Eastenders came to my home town last week. I watched a lot of the filming. Thought I would write about the filming in Weymouth and everything I saw.

When I first read that we had Eastenders filming in Weymouth I was really excited and even more so when I found out Robert was going to be there. Weymouth doesn't really have many exciting things happening that often!
Think Roxy and Ronnie are trying to find their long lost dad (or uncle) Archie Mitchell who is played by Larry Lamb! Peggy and Sean go along with them!
Apparently they were meant to film in Spain but because of BBC cutbacks they couldnt afford it so they came to Weymouth instead!! WOO! So pleased they did!
Day 1. Monday 7th April
I work in town so it was easy to head to the beach to see what was happening.
No sign of the cast at lunchtime but a few more fairground rides were being set up on the beach like a carousel and a coconut shy that we dont usually have all the time. Wonder if they got our donkeys in though!!
I had to go home from work straightaway but when I was on the bus I noticed a lot of people hanging around on the esplanade, so I texted my sister told her to go down there and have a look! She headed down there after work and saw some of the crew having icecreams. Then about 15 minutes later Robert and Samantha turned up. She saw them filming scenes walking along the esplanade and took a couple of pictures. She stayed til about 6:30 when they had both gone off in a car with lots of people trying to take pictures through the windows!!
I live about 10 mins drive away from town, was going to go that evening but didnt in the end only to wish I had when I found out they had been filming on the beach at 9pm!! DAMN!
Oh and apparently Samantha Janus was spotted in Asda that afternoon!
Day 2. Tuesday 8th April.
At lunchtime headed to the beach again. This time there were lots of crew milling around setting things up. Had our lunch there and saw Samantha Janus walk by! My sister said hello to her and asked if she was having a nice time, to which she said yes thanks! We saw she was heading for the theatre so we thought maybe they were based there. We should have asked for photos but we were in the middle of eating our lunch!!
We were told the cast were due to arrive on the beach at about 2:15pm, we wanted to wait but really had to get back to work. My sister got a signed postcard of Sean from one of the security guards, he wouldn't give her two!
After work we went to the theatre to see if we could see anything as that was were we saw Samantha heading earlier. When we got there, we saw that was their base where all the trailers and equipment were kept. There were lots of people there chanting "Sean, Sean, Sean" (that really annoyed most of the rest of us because he was less likely to make an appearance then!). Anyway, we saw him a few times behind a trailer playing football with some of the extras.
Then a bit later on, Robert and Rita walked past us and into the back of the theatre where the cast and crew would go for meetings and things I expect. They came out about 10 minutes later which is when I got my picture of him but they didnt stop to sign autographs or anything.
Went home and went back out later til 11:30am watching Robert and Rita filming scenes on the beach. SPOILER ALERT --- Sean and Roxy were having an argument on the beach (think she chucked some drink at him!!), Sean had a fight with some guy and Roxy went on the carousel!
It was really exciting to watch and at first we had to move cos we were in shot (I didnt mind lol) but then we crept a bit closer. It was really cold and Robert and Rita kept hugging each other to keep warm and Rita wore a blanket round her between takes whilst Robert held her handbag (lol!).
Day 3. Wednesday 9th April.
Didnt see anything happening at lunchtime, walked past the harbour, round to the pavilion and to the beach but there didnt seem to be much action.
Went back in the evening. Not much was happening at first but there were lots of people again. Then we saw a car move to the other side of the car park near to the ferry terminal. There was another car there too. Robert got out and started driving around in the other car and then got in and out again a few times but that was about it. He waved to us though!
They finished filming that at about 9ish and we saw Robert get back into the car he had been driving and move back across to the other side of the car park but when the car came past it didnt look like he was in there! Anyway a few minutes later people started packing up and moving away then a black Jaguar car came out with Robert driving I think and sped off! Think it had a personalised number plate!
I managed to get a Sean Slater postcard from one of the security guards. Its a great photo!
Day 4. Thursday 10th April. (LAST DAY)
Today they were filming away from the town (to escape the crowds I think) so couldnt get to see any of it and when we went to the pavilion after work there wasnt much about.
It was really interesting to watch everything and have soap stars in town. It gave me an exciting week at least, now I have to go back to boring, normal life!
If I hadnt of been at work, I probably would have been able to see more and get an autograph!
